A community-based resource center dedicated to providing free spiritual and material support to women and families finding themselves in a planned or unplanned pregnancy, faced with the various options provided in today’s culture.
The Story of Safe Choice
In 1990, Gilmer County was #1 in the state of Georgia for unplanned teenage pregnancy. Fred & Sharon Bailey saw those numbers and refused to look away — Mr. Bailey’s vision was to open an organization that would help anyone who found themselves in that situation, with compassion instead of judgment.
Thirty-six years later, that vision has served thousands of individuals, women, children, and families across Gilmer and the surrounding counties. Today Safe Choice is a ministry of Choose Life Ministries, Inc., affiliated with Care Net, and every service we offer remains completely free.
What makes us different is simple: long-lasting relationships. Our team walks with families for years — through pregnancy, parenting, and everything after.
God has made every human life sacred — from the moment of conception until natural death.

The Memorial Garden
Our Memorial Garden is a sacred place of remembrance and healing for families who have lost a child through miscarriage, abortion, or natural death. Loved ones can honor little lives with engraved name plates — a lasting tribute and a step toward healing.
The garden is open to anyone seeking comfort. Our team walks alongside you with compassion, prayer, and resources, so every life, no matter how brief, is honored and remembered. A small fee covers plaque engraving; private memorial ceremonies are to be announced.
Our People
Safe Choice is carried by a small, faithful team — around ten volunteers serve each year as counselors in English and Spanish, Baby Boutique keepers, newsletter and office helpers, night school advocates, and house & groundskeepers.
Every donated outfit is sorted, washed, and shelved with care. Every class is taught by someone who wants to know your name. That’s what 36 years of long-lasting relationships looks like.
